A 19-YEAR-OLD rape suspect was arrested in an operation in Barangay Callawa, Buhangin district around 3:05 pm on Friday, March 1.
Captain Hazel Tuazon, Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, identified him as Ven Geoffrey Balanza, a resident of the said barangay.
Tuazon said Balanza had a standing warrant for two counts of statutory rape (Criminal Case No: R-DVO-06544-CR and R-DVO-06545-CR) issued on Feb. 12, 2024, by Judge Zarah Daquila Aguinsado-Silvosa, RTC Branch 33, 11th Judicial Region Davao City.
The judge recommended no bail bond for the case.
Elements of the Mandug Police Station, Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Davao City Field Unit, and other law enforcement agencies conducted the operation. The suspect is now in the custody of the Mandug police.
