THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) will deploy personnel today to the Freedom Park to enforce physical distancing among the rallyists who are expected to stage a protest in time for President Rodrigo Duterte’s last state of the nation address (SONA).
“Our {security}preparation is still the same in the Freedom Park at Roxas but because we are still placed under ‘General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions’ only minimal (protestors) are allowed to enter inside,” Col. Kirby John Kraft, the city police director, said in a phone interview on Saturday night.
He added more or less 10 to 12 individuals are only allowed inside the zone. “They are discouraged and prohibited if they will reach more than the said numbers allowed.”
“Mayor Sara Duterte is very lenient on that, however, they (rallyist) should follow the minimum public health standard and that is why the number is limited,” he further said.
The police director said the same set-up is being adopted at the Freedom Park with seats prepared for the rallyists.
“They will be (subject) for temperature check, footbath, and they should have a QR ( Safe Davao Quick Response ) code to present, ” he added.
The deployed personnel will come from the San Pedro Police Station and the City Mobile Force Company.
According to PCOO Secretary Martin Andanar, President Duterte’s sixth and final SONA today will be “modest yet memorable.” Andanar said the President’s last SONA would remind Filipinos that the current administration worked hard to serve them.
