A TELECOMMUNICATIONS technician is facing a charge after threatening to throw a grenade at the Task Force Davao Sirawan checkpoint.
The authorities identified the suspect as Eric V. Daque, 42, a resident of Valencia Bukidnon who was driving a red Bongo with plate number MAQ 2495, traveling towards Davao City.
According to the duty inspector, while conducting a thorough inspection at light vehicle inspection area, the suspect uttered the words “Naa koy dalang granada diri sa akoang bag! Unsay gusto ninyo, pabuthon nako ni sa tunga sa dalan (I have a grenade here in my bag? You want me to blow it up here)?”
The TFD personnel immediately coordinated with the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and arrested the suspect. The suspect is now under the custody of Toril Police Station for documentation.
The suspect will face a charge under Presidential Decree 1727 or the malicious dissemination of false information of the willful making of any threat concerning bombs, explosives, or any similar device or means of destruction.

violating gun ban

A 48-YEAR-OLD entrepreneur was apprehended on Monday at the AFP-PNP checkpoint in Sirawan, Toril for violating the Comelec’s gun ban order.
He was identified as Roberto S. Acapulco, married, a banana farmer, and a resident of Barangay Berada, Kidapawan City.
The authorities recovered from the suspect a .38 caliber revolver with eight rounds of live ammunition.
According to the report, Acapulco was driving a Suzuki minivan bearing the plate number MAK 7621 and was supposed to enter Davao City.
The personnel manning the checkpoint found a gun from his vehicle upon passing through the inspection area. He failed to present documents that exempted him from the gun ban. The suspect is now under the custody of Toril Police Station for proper disposition.
Man yields weed

A BUNDLE of suspected marijuana brought by a 49-year-old man was seized by the elements of Task Force Davao and Davao City Police Office yesterday at the joint checkpoint in Barangay Alejandra Navarro (Lasang), Bunawan district.
The suspect was identified as Constancio C. Sasedor III, married, a resident of Catalunan Pequeño, Talomo District.
He was driving a red Kia Bongo with plate number KAH 9669. He was attempting to enter the city when accosted.
According to authorities, the intercepted illegal drugs, packed on a plastic bag weighing over 750 grams, had an estimated street value of around P90,000. This latest accomplishment is reportedly the fifth such arrest since the weekend.
Task Force Davao commander, Col. Darren E. Comia, expressed lauded his troops for fulfilling their mandates to ensure the safety and security of Davao City. The suspect and evidence were immediately turned over to Bunawan Police Station for proper disposition.
