Driver dead after
SUV, truck collide

AN SUV driver died following a direct collision with a dump truck in Barangay Tuban, Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur, at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 27.

SSgt. Jessie Jul, investigator of the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station, identified the driver of the Toyota Fortuner as Reynante Tinapay, 39, a resident of People’s Village, Barangay Ma-a, who was then traveling with his 14-year-old son.

The SUV was going southbound while the dump truck was northbound driven by Julifer Gallo, 30, a resident of Pulang Lupa, M’lang, Cotabato.

Jul said the SUV counter-flowed when it overtook another vehicle resulting in the head-on collision.

The SUV driver was pronounced dead on arrival while was in critical condition when received by the hospital.

Drug suspect nabbed
in dragnet operation

THE DRUG Enforcement Unit (SDEU) of the Sta. Ana PNP arrested a suspect during a buy-bust operation in Purok 4, South Bay Road, Barangay Lapu-lapu, Davao City.

The arresting officers allegedly seized P60,000 worth of shabu from suspect Raymond Tumabang Sapar, according to Maj. Jake Goles, station commander of Sta. Ana PNP Station.

Goles added the suspect is considered a street value target who is known to be a peddler of illegal drugs in the city. The suspect will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. By Jenalyn Manguiob/UM Intern
