Police crack down on liquor ban violators

Thirty individuals including a bar owner were issued citation tickets for violating the liquor ban along Narra street, Barangay 38-C around 2:30am on Sunday, Feb. 25.

Captain Rizalito Clapiz III, said they issued citation tickets to 30 individuals including the owner for violation of the City Ordinance 004-13 series of 2013 (Liquor Ban).

Under the city ordinance, violators will be penalized P3,000 for the first offense; the second offense is P5,000 or imprisonment, or both; and the third and subsequent offenses will be P5,000 and one-year imprisonment, along with business permit revocation for the establishment.

“A case will be filed against them if they will not pay the penalty,” Clapiz added.

According to the report, police received information that the bar served alcohol even through the morning.

Clapiz said it is the second time this bar was raided by the team. The third offense will be revocation of their business license.

Claviz also said businessmen abide by the law initially, but after a few months they will again violate the ban.

“That’s why next time, we will bring the Business Bureau and VRU [during the operation],” he said.

TIMES is still trying to reach the bar owner to get his statement regarding the matter.
