Police arrest 107 suspects in week-long anti-crime operation

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) apprehended 107 individuals between April 27 and May 3, 2025, following a series of anti-crime operations.

Acting city director Col Hansel M. Marantan said the week-long blitz focused on four key directives: illegal drugs, illegal gambling, wanted persons, and loose firearms.

In the fight against illegal drugs, DCPO conducted 34 operations, resulting in the arrest of 38 individuals. Authorities confiscated a substantial amount of narcotics, including 297.4756 grams of shabu, estimated to have a street drug price (SDP) of Php 2,022,834.08, and 488.0500 grams of marijuana, with an SDP of Php 58,566.

Simultaneously, DCPO intensified its efforts to combat illegal gambling, conducting 18 operations that led to the arrest of 25 individuals.

During these operations, P6,361.00 in bet money was confiscated, and 18 cases were filed against the apprehended gamblers.

A significant breakthrough was also achieved in apprehending wanted individuals.

Through 40 targeted operations, DCPO arrested 40 individuals, including 12 of the city’s most wanted persons and 28 others with outstanding warrants.

Efforts to curb the proliferation of loose firearms resulted in 13 operations, leading to the arrest of 4 individuals and the seizure of 6 illegal firearms.

Additionally, four firearms were surrendered voluntarily, and four were turned in for safekeeping under “Oplan Katok” (a police initiative encouraging the surrender of unregistered firearms). Six cases related to illegal firearms were filed in court.

“These accomplishments highlight the DCPO’s dedication to enforcing the law while respecting human rights and adhering to Police Operational Procedures,” Marantan said.
