THE ALFONSO T. Yuchengco College of Business (ATYCB) of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao (Mapúa MCM) is transforming the educational experience for Mindanao students. Leveraging its global partnership with Arizona State University (ASU), it provides innovative solutions to address the student’s challenges and the changing dynamics of education in the digital age.
“During the pandemic, we were the first to recognize the impact of cabin fever on students. Many were dropping out, and not completing assessments, assignments, or exams. They were exhausted despite being at home,” says Dean Jose Paolo Mack, Dean of ATYCB. “We studied this deeply and made adjustments. Our secret recipe is listening to and adapting to support our students’ needs, blending it with the Mapúan excellence in fostering competitive students,” he added.
This commitment to student well-being is just one example of ATYCB’s proactive approach to education. The college continues to innovate by blending technology with compassionate teaching, ensuring students stay engaged and motivated.
A global marketplace at their fingertips
Addressing the ongoing issues of its students, ATYCB ensures students realize that world-class opportunities are accessible without leaving the comforts of home. Through its partnership with ASU, the college offers materials and collaborations that expose students to a global perspective.
These global connections enable students to view the world as an expansive marketplace, offering opportunities to excel without needing to leave Mindanao. By fostering a globally connected learning environment, ATYCB equips students with the resources and tools to build successful careers in their home region.
A Vision for Mindanao’s Future
ATYCB’s partnership with ASU is not just about adopting international best practices; it’s about customizing them for local relevance. The college’s learning management system incorporates signature ASU courses and teaching methods, ensuring students receive a world-class education while staying rooted in their culture and community.
“We’re flying in experts, adopting global materials, and making sure our students are connected to the international stage without losing sight of their local roots. This approach ensures they are globally competitive while contributing to Mindanao’s development,” concludes Dean Jose Paolo Mack.
Committed to the Mapúan Excellence
From addressing pandemic-induced and evolving student challenges to providing global learning opportunities, ATYCB remains committed to its mission of delivering high-quality, technology-driven education. With its innovative programs and strong global partnerships, the college is shaping future leaders who are ready to make an impact both locally and globally.
