A 31-YEAR-OLD woman was killed after being struck by a public utility jeepney while crossing F. Dizon Road in Barangay 19-B, around 7:18 p.m. on Friday, June 21.
Davao City Police Office spokesperson Captain Hazel Tuazon identified the victim as Ira Gan Mendoza, a resident of Block 51, Lot 14, Deca Homes, Mulig.
According to Tuazon, Mendoza was crossing from the northbound lane to the southbound lane when she was hit by a Suzuki jeepney driven by John Michael M. Doromal. Doromal was traveling northbound on F. Dizon Road toward C.P. Garcia Highway.
The impact of the collision caused Mendoza to fall and sustain fatal injuries.
A Central 911 ambulance transported her to the Southern Philippines Medical Center for treatment but was declared dead by the attending physician at around 2 a.m. on Saturday, June 22.
The driver faces a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and is currently detained at the San Pedro Police Station.
