“THE PEDAGOGY of Fraud Cheating Practices in Online Classes” was launched with a public lecture and book signing at the University of Mindanao (UM) on Oct. 25, the first of the series of campus tours in the country.
Published by C&E Publishing Inc., and researched by Dr. Ronnie V Amorado, PhD and Dr. Ramcis N. Vilchez, PhD, the book tackles the opportunities and challenges of online education during and after the COVID-19 pandemic.
It also explores trends and key data in online learning, emphasizing the need for academic integrity in online classes and remote learning and addressing the rising concerns.
In Amorado’s opening remarks, he shared that they started working on the Pedagogy of Fraud as a scientific journal back in 2020 and he had observed the different malpractices of online learning such as students cheating in academics.
He acknowledged that the use of AI has been abused in online platforms, hoping that schools would come up with their own AI policies. AI apps that are exponentially growing include ChatGPT, MetaAI, Chatbots, and many others.
“The University of Mindanao shall be in the forefront of advocating for the adoption of education technology and AI, but at the same time aggressively promoting academic integrity in the Philippines,” UM president Dr. Guillermo P. Torres Jr. said in his opening remarks.
Learning management systems (LMS) and AI Integration of Blackboard and Quipper were discussed during the public lecture tackling academic integrity and AI-related topics.
