PDEA, police seize ₱6-M in ‘shabu’ in Mati drug bust

AUTHORITIES in Davao Oriental apprehended a suspected “big-time” drug pusher from Butuan City, seizing an estimated ₱6 million worth of shabu in a buy-bust operation on Tuesday evening, June 3.

The operation, conducted around 9:25 p.m. in MLGR, Barangay Central, Mati City, led to the arrest of alias Jay, a 46-year-old married resident of Barangay Libertad, Butuan City.

Joint elements from the Davao Oriental Provincial Office of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency XI, in collaboration with the Police Regional Office XI, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office, Mati City Police Station, Philippine Coast Guard, and Philippine Navy, launched the sting.

According to reports, alias Jay was apprehended after selling one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, valued at ₱3,000, to an undercover agent acting as a poseur buyer.

During the subsequent search, authorities further confiscated five additional heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets, containing approximately 503 grams of suspected shabu. 

The total estimated street value of the seized drugs was placed at ₱6,036,000. The buy-bust marked money was also recovered.

The suspect is now facing a criminal charge for violating Republic Act No. 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
