IT WAS, indeed, an extraordinary evening last March 22, 2023, when Park Inn by Radisson Davao celebrated its 10 years of service.  What a “Sparkling at 10” fete it was with the attendance of SM Hotels & Conventions Corporation (SMHCC) President Elizabeth Sy, SMHCC Executive Vice President Peggy Angeles, SMHCC Vice President for Operations Walid Wafik, VP for Marketing  & Business Development Neil Mozo Rumbaoa, and Consultant Nes Jardin who warmly welcomed Davao’s SM family, Honorary Consuls, Davao City Government officials, corporate clients, business partners, valued guests, and media representatives.

“It’s always a treat to be here in Davao City….10 years ago today, Davao City became the home of the first Park Inn Hotel in the Asia Pacific Region—the Park Inn by Radisson Davao.  In a short period of time, the hotel trail-blazed its way into the industry, taking its place alongside other well-established properties in the region….Not long after launching Asia Pacific’s first-ever Park Inn in Davao, other Park Inns successfully opened in Clark, Pampanga in 2015, followed by Iloilo and North Edsa in 2019; and then Bacolod in 2021,” the charming SMHCC Exec. VP Peggy Angeles told the guests as she added, “The Park Inn brand’s successful launches in the country further bolstered the ‘strong and mutual’ intent between SMHCC and the Radisson Hotel Group to grow the brand in the Philippines.”

The theme “Park Inn by Radisson Davao @ Sparkling 10: A Decade of Feel Good Hospitality” demonstrates the 10 years of good customer service despite and despite the difficult challenges of the times.  Owing to the resilience, competence, dedication, and effort of the hotel’s staff under the able leadership of General Manager Sven Toune, Park Inn by Radisson Davao has managed ably well to remain a relevant player in the City’s hospitality industry and tourism sector.

“It is celebrations like this that creates the opportunity for recollection of the past memorable years.  With this, we shed light on the hotel’s performance amidst the obstacles…The challenging times tested the grit, strength and teamwork of the property; and we are indeed grateful that we are still here and continue to be one of the top chosen accommodation in the City.  In the past decade, Park Inn by Radisson Davao has been one of the distinguished accommodation partner for the City’s historical events….We look forward to spend the next 10, 20, 30 years as one of the prime hotels of the City,” commented the smart and friendly General Manager Sven Toune, the distinguished manager of the hotel who speaks the Visayan language fluently and who is often seen wearing the Barong Tagalog with such pizzazz.

That special night, guests feasted on a well-curated menu consisting of Davao malasugue ceviche; garden salad with a mangosteen and calamansi dressing; roasted root crop soup with basilicum olio; grilled Davao tuna and pan-seared blue marlin with sweet potato and corn puree; and ended with a dessert of Malagos cream cheesecake topped with bignay berries and chocolate tablea pralines.  Take note that each serving of the dishes came accompanied with classic and modern tunes performed by Davao musicians.  And yes, each dish served came perfectly matched as well with the hotel’s fine wines.
