P50-M approved to rehab home facilities in the city

The local government earmarked P50 million for the rehabilitation of seven home facilities in the city.

The City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) will enhance Bahay Pag-asa; Balay Dangupan; Sidlakan Center; Co-SuGian Center for Elderly; Lingap Center for Mentally Challenged Children; Paginhanwaan Drop-in Center for Children; and Quick Response Team for Child Center to make it “more comfortable for people in distress and senior citizens.”

CSSDO chief Maria Luisa Bermudo, in a statement issued by the City Information Office, said, “the rehabilitation of the facilities is aimed at making the residents of the facilities feel more comfortable during their therapy phase.”

“We took those children or adults away from their home because of some conflicts, we want them to feel at home through improving our facilities even if they are with people that they just met,” Bermudo said.

Along with the Department of Education, a school building will be built at the Bahay Pag-asa and Balay Dangupan for the continuing education of the children of said facilities. The DepEd pledged to assign teachers in the said facilities.

“We want our children to have an avenue to learn even inside the center. We want them to continue their education,” she said.

The CSSDO targets to finish all the construction of the improvements before July.
