  • City earmarks biggest prize yet for Indak-Indak 

 

A TOTAL of P5.6-million worth of prizes awaits winners for Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan this year. 

During Wednesday’s Habi at Kape, event organizer Harold Quibete mentioned the following prizes: P1-million for the Grand Winner, each from the two categories, P500,000 for the 1st Runner Up, P400,000 for the 2nd Runner up, P300,000 for the 3rd and P200,000 for the 4th Runner up.

They will also award cash for the special awards, including Best Music, Best in Artistic Design, and Best Choreographer, and ten consolation prizes.

Mas importante gihapon nga naa sila’y cash prize kay nakita jud nako, I am a performer myself, nakita nako unsa ka-hago (It’s still important if we’re giving cash prizes for the performers, because I am a performer myself, and I have really witnessed how much they exerted efforts for it),” Quibete said. 

Quibete also said 19 group participants committed to joining the street dancing competition, Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan. 

For the Davao City school-based category, the participants are Mabini National High School Apo Duwaling Dance Company – Davao City, Tribung Lacson Performing Arts and Ensemble Lacson Integrated School – Calinan District, Davao City National High School Sining Sayon Dawet Cultural Ensemble – Davao City, Hinugyaw Dance Performing Arts Don Enrique Bustamante National High School – Brgy. Bago Gallera, Catalunan Pequeño National High School Sining Mananayaw Ensemble – Catalunan Pequeño, and Lapu-Lapu Elementary School Performing Arts Company – Barangay Lapu-Lapu. 

The open category includes Tribung Balovebagueño from the Province of Lanao del Sur, Caraga Matimawa Caraga NHS, Indak Elizalde Performing Arts Guild Elizalde NHS from Davao de Oro, Agusan del Sur Artists’ Guild, Landan NHS Performing Arts Group from Polomolok, South Cotabato, Madyaw Samalikha Cultural Dance Troupe from Island Garden City of Samal (IGaCoS), Gagandilan Akbar Performing Arts Guild from Basilan, and Sindac Anib Performing Ensemble from Bislig, Surigao del Sur. 

Also competing are Tribu Maganahay Matiao NHS Special Program in the Arts from Matiu City, Davao Oriental, Banayan Performing Arts from Municipality of Banaybanay, Rise and Shine Caraga – San Luis NHS from Caraga, and Asuncion NHS Performing Arts Guild from Asuncion, Davao del Norte.

“Davao City is also a place that offers entertainment that is also culture-based. We were also happy to be welcoming to the different contingents that are from outside Davao City, and glad to groom the homegrown talents of Davao City to become better in their own respective fields of endeavor,” Quibete said. 

The Indak-Indak sa Kadalanan will be held on Aug. 18 from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at San Pedro Square.
