
A JOINT Army and police checkpoint in Barangay Sirawan, Toril District, Davao City, apprehended a 39-year-old man after shabu was seized from his possession while passing through a checkpoint at approximately 8:15 p.m. on March 22.
Suspect Ariel, a resident of Tibungco, Davao City, was driving toward the city in a white Toyota Vios taxi with plate number LAM 3293.
Authorities seized one heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing approximately 49.9 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated street value of P339,320, from the suspect’s possession.
Colonel Rodrigo Marinas, commander of Task Force Davao, said the ongoing seizures of illegal items at the city’s entry points demonstrate the effectiveness of the security forces’ rigorous checkpoint operations in preventing contraband from entering Davao City.
He commended Task Force Davao and Davao City Police Office personnel at all entry points for their diligent screening of individuals and vehicles. Meanwhile, the suspect and the seized evidence were turned over to the Toril Police Station for proper disposition.
