TASK FORCE Davao soldiers intercepted smuggled tobaccos worth over P12,000 around 6:15 a.m. at the AFP-PNP Davao City entry point in Sasa Wharf on Aug. 17.
Captain John Louie Dema-ala, Task Force Davao spokesperson, said the personnel confiscated 35 reams of suspected smuggled cigarettes left inside a commuter bus traveling toward the Island Garden City of Samal.
The soldiers have yet to identify the owner of the contraband. Nevertheless, the goods were turned over to the Sasa Police Station for proper disposition.
The Task Force Davao and the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) have intensified their checkpoint operations at all entry points to secure residents and tourists during the Kadayawan festivities.
