MORE THAN P1 million in fines are generated from 672 operations by the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) targeting illegal mufflers or bora-bora motorcycles from Jan. 7 to 13 this year.
DCPO chief Col. Alberto Lupaz said their operational units collected P32,500 from 47 CTC citations and P95,000 in temporary operation permits (TOPs).
Lupaz said the teams conducted 370 operations related to RA 4136, leading to the issuance of 298 TOPs and the collection of fines totaling P647,056.
Their unwavering commitment to enforcing City Ordinance 0334-12 resulted in 672 operations and the issuance of 2,048 citation tickets, leading to a substantial collection of P1,197,500 in fines.
Collectively, the efforts have yielded an impressive total of P1,972,500 in fines from all violators, he said.
“This significant achievement has greatly contributed to creating a safer and more orderly environment for the residents of Davao City,” he said.
The apprehension of illegal mufflers or bora-bora is mandated by Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code. Lupaz added that the anti-bora-bora campaign is also implemented in support of R.A. 8749 or the Clean Air Act to mitigate carbon emissions and noise pollution.
