P1.2 million in fines collected as DCPO cracks down on noise pollution, traffic violators

THE DAVAO City Police Office (DCPO) has intensified its crackdown on noise pollution and traffic violations, resulting in over P1 million in fines collected in just one week.

Under the supervision of acting city police director Col Hansel Marantan, the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) and 19 police stations conducted all-out operations against bora-bora motorcycles and other traffic offenders from July 21 to 27, 2024.

These efforts have yielded impressive results, wherein their operational units issued CTC citations, resulting in fines amounting to P3,000.

Furthermore, dedicated teams conducted 406 operations related to RA 4136 and issued 193 Temporary Operator’s Permits. As a result, they collected fines totaling  P433,500.

Meanwhile, enforcing C.O. 0334-12 resulted in 606 operations and the issuance of 1,051 citation tickets, and the collection of P570,600 in fines.

Enforcers apprehended 172 violators and generated P172,000 in fines under C.O. 0270-23, series of 2023 (Speed Limit Ordinance).

Additionally, the “No Helmet, No Travel” policy operation resulted in 54 issuances of CTCs with fines totaling P27,000, while four violators paid P2,000 in fines during the “No Plate, No Travel” operation.

Collectively, the DCPO and its units collected P1,208,100 in fines from all violators.

Marantan urged motorists to respect and adhere to traffic laws to avoid inconvenience and accidents. He said they need to intensify their operations since the P1.2 million in fines proved that several motorists are still flouting the law.
