Over P370-k worth of shabu seized at checkpoints

HEIGHTENED security measures at Davao City’s border control points proved successful after Task Force Davao (TFD) and Davao City Police Office (DCPO) personnel arrested two individuals for alleged illegal drug possession.

Acting on Davao City Ordinance 048-22, which mandates enhanced security checks during specific events and areas, authorities conducted intensified inspections at the Barangay Lasang checkpoint in Bunawan District.

These efforts resulted in the confiscation of approximately 54.98 grams of suspected shabu with a combined estimated street value of P373,864.00.

On April 13, around 2:40 a.m., authorities apprehended Khader Sangcopan Rahman, 29, from Matina Aplaya.

Rahman was traveling toward Davao City on a red Honda Click 125 (plate number L302JD) when a search yielded a suspected shabu sachet valued at P311,916.

On April 9, at 11 p.m., officers apprehended Dave Ladio Montero, 26, from Tigatto, Davao City.

Montero was on a public utility bus bound for Davao City when a search revealed a small plastic sachet believed to contain shabu valued at P61,948.00.

Colonel Darren Comia, commander of Task Force Davao, commended the unwavering efforts of TFD and DCPO personnel at the Lasang checkpoint for their strict screening procedures.

Comia emphasized the importance of these checkpoints in keeping Davao City safe by preventing the entry of illegal drugs and firearms. Both suspects and the confiscated evidence are currently under DCPO custody, pending the filing of appropriate charges.
