MORE THAN 800 students including stakeholders and participants outside the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC) are expected to join the Ignacian Marian Fun Run Year 2 fundraising event on Nov. 23 at UIC Bonifacio campus.
UIC program coordinator Dr. Porferia Poralan said the funds gathered by the event will support the communities in sports equipment for physical activities (basketball, volleyball, badminton etc.) and fitness exercises for the youth and adults.
“So it’s a community school and community partnership because we are tasked as a university. It’s one of our functions to go back to the community and help,” Poralan said during Wednesday’s press conference.
Poralan added that they will request the city government to help secure the runners.
The 5-kilometer fun run will begin at 4 a.m. with a P100 fee for students and a P450 fee for the public.
Ignacian Marian Fun Run Year 2 is initiated by UIC and spearheaded by the Graduate School student of Doctor in Philosophy Major in Physical Education.
“By organizing this fun run event, we encourage the employees of not only the University of Immaculate Conception but also other stakeholders, our students, and our sponsors to create a friendly and supportive environment where we can challenge ourselves to have fun and then as well to connect with others,” Ateneo de Davao University PE instructor Nancy Pavia, PhD said.
