OVER 500 YOUNG MINDANAOANS JOIN GLOBAL YOUTH SUMMIT IN DAVAO CITY

Over 500 young participants from different parts of Mindanao attended the recently concluded Davao City leg of the 2024 Global Youth Summit (GYS) at the SM Lanang Cinema 6 on July 11, 2024.

GYS, organized by SM Cares and the Global Peace Foundation, aims to inspire the youth to become catalysts for change through numerous activities, seminars, and workshops facilitated by experts and key opinion leaders. This year, it highlights a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) in each of the respective 17 host cities.

For the Davao City leg, GYS focused on SDG 9 which seeks to build resilient infrastructure, promote sustainable industrialization, and foster innovation.

GYS is an annual event that provides the youth with an avenue where they can share their ideas and work together to create long-term and sustainable solutions to the most pressing problems and challenges affecting them today.

GYS is one of SM Cares’ numerous Programs on Children and Youth in support of the 17 United Nations SDGs. Apart from GYS, SM Cares also supports UNICEF’s Programs for Education of Children through The Book Nook, a free library and community hub where parents and children can bond over books, workshops, and activities.

SM Cares also has programs on the environment, women and breastfeeding mothers, senior citizens, and persons with disabilities.
