Over 3,000 cubic meters of waste extracted in H1 of 2024: ASU

THE ANCILLARY Services Unit (ASU) extracted a total of 3,334 cubic meters of waste covering more than 17 kilometers of canals from various waterways in the city from January to June.

In an interview on July 2, ASU head Paul Bermejo said the areas covered were from “barangays and subdivisions that air concerns through the Davao City Reports.”

“This is for the whole Davao City, and most of it is aired through our Davao City Reports outlet. It also came from the canals we frequently clean as well as requests from barangays,” Bermejo said.

He said that their office has a total of three teams for clearing operations. They also have a team for night duty.

Bermejo said that it would be a huge help for their office if barangays also do their share in clearing canals even if there is no rain or flood.

He also encouraged the public to dispose of their waste properly. He also urged them to establish their own drainage and road-clearing teams to collaborate with the ASU during operations.
