Ortonio: we have sanctioned rude City Hall employees

A City Hall official admitted that there are local government A employees who have been sanctioned for inappropriate behavior in dealing with the public.

Lemuel Ortonio, the city’s officer-in-charge of the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), said discourtesy is the “usual” public complaint against government workers.

Ortonio told reporters during the weekly I-Speak conference at the City Hall yesterday that they have administratively sanctioned some employees due to their lack of manners in providing service the public.

He, however, did not state any figures.

“Before, we were receiving many complaints regarding employees who were rude. Right now, we have received fewer complaints,” Ortonio said.

He urged the public to file a complaint before the HRMO’s Bilis Aksyon Partner so proper documentation and investigation can be done.

Ortonio said that the employees will be summoned to a conference with the complainant to tackle and settle the issue.

“We follow a process before we will file administrative sanctions to these employees,” he said.

He bared that those front-liners, or those with direct contact to the people, are usually the subject of most complaints.

“We have conducted service training especially to the front-liners to train them with the proper way of dealing with people,” he said.

Ortonio also encouraged all city employees to continue providing “excellent service” to the people of Davao.

During the I-Speak conference, Ortonio lauded fellow City Hall workers as they bagged the 2019 Seal of Good Financial Housekeeping (SGFH)

The city received the award among the 1,522 local government units after passing the nationwide assessment of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
