ORGANIZERS of DEVCON Mindanao Summit, the largest tech forum on the island, expect more delegates to participate in this year’s event on June 29-30 in Davao City.

During the Media Forum at the Habi at Kape on Wednesday, April 17, Peng Sumarago, DEVCON Davao president, said their previous events typically exceeded the number of target participants. So, they don’t expect that trend to change this year.

“We are expecting bigger delegates, a bigger number of speakers… and a bigger range of support from the networks of Davao, Iligan, and Cagayan De Oro,” Sumarago added.

This year’s DEVCON summit will be the first and biggest Tech Summit with a collaboration among its three chapters-Iligan, Davao, and Cagayan De Oro, which explains why it’s called DEVCON Mindanao Summit 2024.

She said they expect at least 1,000 delegates and exhibitors but they also anticipate reaching 1,500.

DEVCON Mindanao Summit 2024 will present new innovations, such as generative AI, data engineering, and robotics.

Speakers from different countries including the US and Europe, specifically Germany, CEOs of different industries, and some big names in Mindanao are also expected to join the event.

Jaymar Somosot, VP for technology of DEVCON PH, said previous summits also earned success through efforts and initiatives by the volunteers who partnered with the government, especially during the pandemic, via the apps “RapidPass” and “ReliefAgad.”

“Those people who have created the app and who have helped the government are not paid, they are all volunteers,” he said.
