  • Al-ag calls on other bets to undergo drug test ahead of the May 12 elections

COUNCILOR Bernie Al-ag challenged his vice-mayoral opponent, Mayor Sebastian Baste Duterte, and other candidates to also undergo urine and hair follicle tests for illegal drugs after he voluntarily submitted himself for screening on Thursday, May 8.

Ginawa natin itong hair follicle test ngayon para may peace of mind po ang mga botante natin, especially ang mga Dabawenyo kasi maraming issue ngayon about drug use. Kung ginawa natin requirements sa mga drivers natin, I think mas maganda ang mga public officials din,” Al-ag told reporters in an interview outside the Hi-Precision Diagnostics private laboratory.

Al-ag said the urine test result will be revealed on Thursday afternoon and announced on Friday. However, the hair follicle test result will take longer.

Kung magpa-test ang kabila o hindi, nasa botante na iyan, nasa kamay na nila,” Al-ag stressed.

When asked why the challenge was issued  four days before the elections on May 12, Al-ag  said, “Hindi naman late, importante ngayon. It’s important malapit na ang election malaman na ng tao. It’s a decision-making process ng tao at importante hindi drug user ang ating mga elected official,” he said.

If elected vice mayor, Al-ag vowed to establish a city-run public hospital to make healthcare more accessible and affordable to residents. When asked if he can work with the councilors running under Hugpong, he answered, “It is not a problem,” as they have a good working relationship.
