Risk of flooding and landslides prompts advisory to protect students, teachers

THE DEPARTMENT of Education (DepEd) on Tuesday reported that public and private schools have canceled their classes following the yellow warning advisory issued by the weather bureau, Pag-asa.

In a message on Tuesday, DepEd XI spokesperson, Jenielito Atillo, said they further instructed Davao City schools to coordinate with their respective Barangay Local Government Units (BLGUs) for the cancellation or suspension of classes.

Davao City has been experiencing light to moderate rain showers due to the low-pressure area.
Davaoeños are likewise advised to take precautionary measures and regularly monitor public advisories.

Meanwhile, a landslide was reported in Purok 1, Sitio Baay in Barangay Luban Road, Mati City, Davao Oriental. However, the road is now passable to all types of vehicles.
