Ombudsman recognizes Biz Bureau for efficiency

The Business Bureau earned a Blue Certification Level 2 Award from the Office of the Ombudsman after complying to the standard of providing ease in doing business in the city.

Lawyer Marissa Torentera, chief of the office, said the Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) achieved about 80% of the 87 standards of the Office of the Ombudsman.

The award was given during the flag raising ceremony on Monday.

“This is such an honor for the city. We appreciate that the Ombudsman recognized our efforts. Not every LGU gets the Blue Certificate,” she said.
The Ombudsman recognized the entire BPLO system after it was evaluated if these are IT-enabled, customer-convenient, has an anti-fixing mechanism, the good appearance of the business permit, and continuous improvement.

Based on the agency, the certification is an indication that the office is able to comply with the standards imposed on its operations. Only those local government units that embody efficiency in their operations are granted the certification.

The Office of the Ombudsman conducted the same assessment and evaluation procedure to several cities and provinces in the country, but others failed to meet the standards it set.

Meanwhile, the Business Bureau already received 28,850 business applications until last weekend with 7,621 were issued permits.
