THE military claimed the last bomb expert of the New People’s Army (NPA) surrendered to the 25th Infantry Battalion under the 10th Infantry Division in Monkayo, Davao De Oro on August 16.
The military reported that the person was responsible for producing improvised explosive devices (IED) for the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) of the NPA in the Davao Region.
Lt. Col. Michael Aquino, battalion commander, said the bomb maker surrendered due to the unrelenting efforts of the unit in running after his group.
Major Gen. Nolasco Mempin, 10th Infantry Division commander, lauded the unit for the surrender of the bomb maker as the province was declared insurgency-free about two months ago.
