Booster doses safe for all individuals: CHO

THE CITY Health Office (CHO) has not recorded any deaths of individuals receiving the booster dose against COVID-19 vaccinations, reiterating that the vaccines are safe for every eligible person.

As of April 22, 2022, the city administered the first booster dose to 244,800 individuals, or 18.74 percent of the 1,306,446 fully immunized Dabawenyos.

This is higher compared to the data on April 12, which recorded 240,672 individuals given the booster dose, or 18.48 percent of the fully immunized individuals.

The anti-COVID booster shot is an added layer of protection against the severity of existing and new variants.

City COVID-19 Task Force Spokesperson Dr. Michelle Schlosser previously said that like other vaccines with boosters against diseases the COVID-19 vaccine also needs one for peace of mind even when there are new variants of the virus.

To cover more eligible individuals to get vaccinated, the city government has been rolling out in the barangays more mobile vaccinations in partnership with the USAID and Unicef.

The vaccination cluster also uses family profiling to determine who has not yet received primary and the booster dose in the barangays.

After conducting mobile vaccinations with national government offices and agencies, the Davao City COVID-19 Task Force also started its coordination meetings with different private businesses and establishments, particularly the business process outsourcing (BPO) companies, for the possible rollout of the booster doses in offices. Talks with malls, restaurants, and banks will also follow.

Meanwhile, the vaccination activities have been extended in malls weekdays to Saturdays to provide more opportunities for working individuals and students to avail of the vaccination.
