No parking zone, road closure set for Ironman

The City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) has announced the strict enforcement of a “no parking” zone along F. Torres St. to Lasang, and the closure of the race course along Daang Maharlika Highway on March 26 for the Alveo Ironman event.

The event is expected to affect those going to or exiting from the Davao-Samal Ferryboat terminal, and the northbound and southbound lanes from Azuela or R. Castillo going to Tagum will also be closed, similar to what was implemented during the Ironman races in 2018 and 2019.

“Ma-close nato ang gikan J.P Laurel-F. Torres paingon didto sa Lasang all the way to Tagum,” said CTTMO head Dionisio Abude said.

To ensure wider dissemination of the road closures, the CTTMO is preparing flyers to be distributed to affected establishments, churches, and subdivisions (photo courtesy of Ironman Davao Facebook page).

Abude said their office has coordinated with the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) to inform clients about the closure of the race course along Daang Maharlika Highway from 3 am to 3 pm on March 26.

“So kadtong mga clients nato sa PPA, dapat makabalo sila ingon anang orasa siyempre mga barko nga mag-anchor diha dapat kabalo ang ilahang clients,” Abide said.

The race course of the Alveo Ironman 70.3 has been posted on the event’s official Facebook page for reference.

The CTTMO’s announcement of the road closures is part of their efforts to ensure the safety of the participants, spectators, and motorists during the event.

The Alveo Ironman 70.3 is an annual triathlon race that involves swimming, cycling, and running, and is expected to attract athletes and spectators from different parts of the country.

The CTTMO is urging the public to plan their travel accordingly and follow the traffic rules and regulations to avoid inconvenience and ensure the success of the event.
