- PRO XI ready to enforce order vs Quiboloy but no timeline yet
THE POLICE Regional Office XI is set to execute a new alias warrant of arrest against Pastor Apollo Quiboloy and the four co-accused.
This was confirmed by Major Catherine Dela Rey, spokesperson of PRO XI during the Davao Peace and Security Press Corps press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday, Aug. 21.
“With the alias warrant now issued for Pastor Quiboloy, we will proceed with the arrest,” Dela Rey stated.
An alias warrant is typically issued when the original warrant has not been served, often due to the suspect’s unavailability.
“However, there’s no specific timeline for this action yet,” she said.
“The implementation will only be halted if Pastor Quiboloy surrenders. We hope to apprehend him soon, as the process has been challenging. Our appeal is for him to surrender and face the charges to demonstrate his claimed innocence,” she added.
On Aug. 20, PRO XI chief Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III informed a Senate panel that a regional court in Pasig City had issued the alias warrant for Quiboloy in connection with his ongoing human trafficking case.
The Pasig court had initially issued an arrest warrant for Quiboloy and five others: Ingrid, Cresente, and Paulene Canada, Jackielyn Roy, and Sylvia Cemañes, for violations of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003, a non-bailable offense.
To date, only Paulene Canada has been arrested.
In addition to the trafficking charges, Quiboloy faces allegations of sexual abuse of a minor. Some of his co-accused have posted bail related to their child abuse charges.
