  • City bolsters police emergency and rescue response with purchase of new vehicles

DAVAO City took disaster preparedness to the next level as it turned over new trucks, off-road vehicles, and rescue boats to the Davao City Police Office on Friday, Dec. 27, 2024.

The DCPO received five Hino 6-wheeler troop carriers, four Isuzu 4×4 disaster vehicles, and four fiber-reinforced plastic boats, which will be used in times of disaster, calamities, and emergencies.

The vehicles are purchased through the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Fund (LDRRMF) for 2024.

According to the DCPO, the donation from the local government unit reflected its steadfast commitment to bolstering the operational readiness of local agencies.

Acting city director Col. Hansel Marantan said the donated vehicles are a game-changer for the DCPO as they would be able to respond faster and more effectively to any crisis–from flooding, typhoons, to earthquakes.

“This move shows how serious Davao City is about disaster risk reduction,” he said. “By investing in the DCPO, the city is making sure it’s ready for anything.  It’s all about creating a safer, more resilient Davao City where everyone can feel secure.”

He also said the donation is a great example of a local government and the police working together to protect the community.
