- City government finalizes contract with supplier for 10 units
THE CITY government and AutoKID Truck Solutions inked an agreement on Monday, April 21, for the delivery of 10 units as part of the DC Interim Bus Service or DC Bus.
The 10 Yutong ZK6126HG buses are low-floor modem vehicles with a seating capacity of approximately 40 passengers, along with provisions for standing commuters.
“With the purchase of these new buses by our city, we aim to provide an interim measure to the public transport challenges that we have,” Atty. Tristan Dwight Domingo, project manager of the Davao Bus Project, said in an interview.
Domingo said that as early as 2023, Mayor Sebastian Duterte instructed them to explore the expansion of the city’s existing Peak Hours Augmentation Bus Service (PHABS).
This is to temporarily solve the delays of the Davao Public Transport Modernization Project, also known as the Davao Bus Project.
“Following this directive and backed by the wealth of data and insights coming from the PHABS operation, it became evident that there is a need for additional dedicated buses for the public,” he stressed.
The data was then utilized to identify the routes and level of service in the operation of the said buses.
The city government allocated funds for the 10 new buses, including the amenities necessary for the operation and maintenance.
The buses are expected to arrive in September and will start operating by the fourth quarter of this year.
Davao commuters may ride the DC Bus free of charge during its initial operations.
