Nearly P500-K in illegal drugs intercepted at 3 checkpoints

NEARLY P500,000 worth of shabu and marijuana were seized from four individuals arrested at joint checkpoint operations in Barangay Eden, Lasang, and Mahayag on Monday evening, Oct. 23.

Captain John Louie Dema-ala, spokesperson of the Task Force Davao, identified them as Jennings Bryan C. Lim, 23, single, a resident of Panacan, and Reyhannah L Zamora, 24, single, a resident of Phase 1, Batolusa, Bangkas Heights.

Dema-ala said both were on board a white Toyota Vios bearing plate number LXE 257 heading for the city. Seized from them were five sachets of shabu weighing more or less 26.5 grams with an estimated street value of P424,000.

Also seized was a transparent plastic sachet of suspected marijuana weighing 3.3 grams with an estimated street value of P561, and drug paraphernalia.

Around 9:30 p.m. of the same day, another individual carrying shabu was arrested at the Barangay Mahayag checkpoint.

Ronald Daaro Gamaya, 35, married and a resident of Tel Aveb Street, Dumanlas, Buhangin, on board a white Mitsubishi L300 van bearing plate number LAM 6693 heading toward the city. 

Intercepted from his possession was a plastic sachet believed to be shabu weighing 1.95 grams valued at P16,800.

At around 4:50 a.m., authorities manning the Lasang entry point apprehended Albert Dominic Santos Garcia, 47, married, and a resident of Sta. Isabel Street, La Verna Hills, Buhangin, on board a bus.

Intercepted from his possession was a sachet believed to be shabu weighing 1.41 grams with an estimated street value of P 22,560.

Task Force Davao commander Colonel Darren Comia commended the efforts of Task Force Davao and Davao City Police Office personnel for strictly screening all incoming individuals and vehicles.

“The recent seizures of illegal drugs at the three entry points is a manifestation of the overall effort of the Davao City’s Security Forces in preventing illegal items and contrabands into the City, thus, maintaining the peace, security and order thereby ensuring the safety and security of all Davaoeños,” Comia said.
