NCCC Ma-a Supermarket opens

HOMEGROWN retail chain, New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC) Ma-a Supermarket opened its doors to the public on Friday, Dec. 20.

With a total lot area of 28,200.64 square meters, the mall features a complete mix of shops, including a supermarket.

The supermarket boasts of homegrown, national, and international brands that cater to consumers’ household needs.

For convenient grocery shopping, the basement of the building will serve as a parking area, providing 800 slots.

In a sideline interview, Lafayette Lim, NCCC Group of Companies president and COO, said mall construction is almost finished but they have to focus on the supermarket first due to tight schedules.

“Hopefully, the food tenants, they wanted to open also but we had to focus on the supermarket, eventually the food tenants will open with the second and third floors will follow,” Lim said.

He expressed gratitude that the supermarket finally opened after seven years, which is too long since the pandemic slowed down the construction.

To note, the shopping mall caught fire on Dec. 23, 2017, just two days before Christmas.

“This is the end of all of the hardships that came out of our loss that year. It was very difficult. However, this is the beginning of something new for us, after seven years we can now start soaring again,” Lim stressed.

NCCC Mall Ma-a is uniquely inspired from the city’s icon – the Philippine Eagle, and also features ‘The Nest’ where shoppers can relax and enjoy the city’s skyline view.

Asya Design, the same company that designed NCCC Mall Buhangin, was tapped to design NCCC Ma-a to center on convenience where shopping, dining, and  entertainment options are made available.

On top of its anchor stores like the Supermarket, Department Store, Hardwaremaxx, HB1, and Cinemas, the mall in Ma-a is eyed to feature a mix of fashion and apparels, footwear and leather goods, food and beverages, sports, health and beauty, gadgets, home furnishings, and services.

The mall targets to open 400 tenants by the end of 2024, where the second, third floor, and the department store are set to open in the second quarter of 2025.
