The National Bible Week kicked off this week, highlighted by a Bible-reading marathon to share the message of Christ.
The commemoration was made possible by Proclamation 124 and RA 11163 or the National Bible Day Act, which aims to mold the spiritual, moral, and social being of the citizens,
The event started yesterday morning, and speakers would read the scriptures from cover to cover for days. It can be witnessed and heard in Rizal Park, is expected to culminate on Thursday afternoon.
Quoting a provision from the Proclamation 124, National Bible Week Month 2020 Co-Governor Rev. Rueland Badoy yesterday said during the Kapehan sa Dabaw that the reason for such event is to “strengthen the ethical and spiritual values and to develop the moral character of the people.”
When asked about the declining interest in Bible reading and the rise of gadget usage by the youth, Badoy said that it does not alarm them since the Bible is still accessible through a digital copy, as well.
Moreover, a Tagalog-English version of the Bible has been released, which would make it easier to understand. It has the same content as the King James version.
On the matter of the Bible being hard to understand, he said that people should not focus on the things that they can’t understand and pay attention to the verses and the messages that resonate with them.
