Four public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers tested positive in a surprise drug test conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) XI during a driver’s seminar at the Davao City Recreation Center Thursday.
PDEA XI Director Antonio Rivera said the four drivers, name withheld, were immediately endorsed to the City Anti-Drug Abuse council for proper intervention.
The driver’s license of the four were also confiscated.
Rivera said they were among the 280 PUV drivers subjected to a random test during a seminar spearheaded by City Hall. The drug test was not announced prior to the inspection.
Hundreds of bus, jeepney, and other PUV drivers flocked at Davao City Recreation Center, formerly Almendras Gym, for the seminar arranged by the City Transport and Traffic Management Office (CTTMO) that started at 8 a.m. and ended at 4 p.m., Thursday.
The PDEA XI coordinated with CTTMO chief Dionisio Abude and Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council led by Michael Aportadera for the random drug testing.
Since March, authorities already caught 13 PUV drivers who were found positive for drug use in various random drug testings.
