Most Filipinos disagree with Duterte’s arrest for ICC charges, still trusted former official: survey

FORMER President Rodrigo Duterte is still the most trusted despite his detention at the Hague

to face charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC) over alleged killings under his administration’s “war on drugs.”

This is based on a recent Pulse Asia survey that revealed from May 6 to 9, 2025, showing

Duterte with a 63% trust rating, Vice President Sara Duterte with a 50% trust rating, and President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. with a 32% trust rating.

Also, the same survey among 1,200 respondents nationwide found that 58% of Filipinos disagreed with Duterte’s arrest. The figure was broken down into 25% who “somewhat disagree” and 33% who “strongly disagree.”

In contrast, only 26% of the respondents agreed with the former president’s arrest (10% “strongly agree” and 16% “somewhat agree”).

Meanwhile, 16% of the respondents remained undecided.

The survey highlighted the high public awareness surrounding the issue, with a striking 99% of respondents indicating they had heard, read, or watched news about the former President’s arrest.

The nationwide survey had an overall error margin of ±2.8 percentage points, with a 95% confidence level.
