More than 1-K personnel from DCPO, Coast Guard to be deployed in Undas 2024

MORE THAN a thousand Davao City Police Office (DCPO) and Coast Guard Davao Station personnel will be deployed from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 to secure various cemeteries.

During Wednesday’s Davao Peace and Security Press Corps briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel, Capt. Hazel Tuazon, spokesperson for the Davao City Police Office, said that 1,114 personnel, including police auxiliaries, will be assigned to 40 cemeteries across the city.

“We ask everyone to follow the Do’s and Don’ts. Items such as backpacks, firearms, bladed weapons, video machines, and liquor are prohibited inside the cemeteries, as well as card games,” she added.

“We urge everyone not to be stubborn, as the goal of the security clusters is to achieve zero incidents during Undas 2024. DCPO aims to ensure that no one ends up in jail after the observance,” she further stated.

On another note, Ensign Winston Gonzales, deputy commander of the Coast Guard Davao Station, announced the deployment of 150 Coast Guard personnel.

“We are also preparing for this because, every year, we implement Oplan Byaheng Undas. All personnel of the Philippine Coast Guard will be deployed to both public and private seaports,” he said.

“Additionally, we will conduct rigorous safety inspections in areas where we expect a large number of guests and beachgoers. This is not limited to the cemeteries, as this long weekend is expected to draw crowds to the piers,” he continued.
