ABOUT 900 members of security units will secure the inauguration today of outgoing Vice Mayor Sebastian Duterte as the next mayor, said Maj. Ma. Teresita Gaspan, spokesperson of the Davao City Police Office, over the weekend.

“Ang mulangkub ‘no we have around 941 security personnel, dedicated to provide full-security coverage sa maong oath-taking. This will be composed of the security cluster from the Davao City Police Office, City Government of Davao, Davao City Public Safety and Security Command Center, Central 911, Task Force Davao, and Philippine Army,” Gaspan said.

The youngest of the three siblings who are children of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte and Elizabeth Zimmerman, Sebastian will recite his oath of office inside the city council with Regional Trial Court Judge Loida Posadas-Kahulugan as the administering officer.

He will then proceed to the front of the city hall building where he will deliver his speech.

Among those who are scheduled to attend is his father, the President.

Gaspan said members of the security cluster will be deployed in strategic areas and that those prohibited during the oath-taking of Vice President-elect Sara Duterte will also be prohibited.

These include wearing of jackets, carrying of backpacks and bringing of pointed objects and liquor.

“Magpadayon gihapon atong mga restrictions, tong atoang mga ginabawal. Naa’y entry points masinati pa nato dinha sa San Pedro. Naa gihapon atong pag-inspection sa kada tao og unsa ilang mga dala. (Our restrictions will continue. There will still be entry points in San Pedro. We will still conduct inspections over each person and what they brought),” Gaspan said.

She added that the security units will also adopt the same template as the one they used during the oath-taking of the outgoing mayor, the elder sister of the incoming mayor.

“Ang concept nato sa operation ani three-tiered layer gihapon ‘no. Didto sa inner layer didto sa sulod mismo sa event kung asa pagahimuon ang oath-taking. Tapos sa middle layer aduna tay nakalatag na kapulisan and other counterparts, and sa outer layer naa ta’y mag-manage sa traffic og mag-conduct sa checkpoints,” Gaspan said.

The difference, she explained, is that the event today will not involve the setting  up of barricades and that there will be no traffic rerouting.

Because the speech will be done publicly, Gaspan said movement of people will not be restricted, but inspection will be thorough.
