Mayor: ECQ stays until May 15

Mayor Sara Duterte has decided to shelve the order to implement the modified community quarantine (MCQ) and followed the recommendation of the national government to extend the enhanced community quarantine until May 15.

“We cannot go into a modified community quarantine (MCQ) on Monday (April 26) since the IATF has ordered some of the areas in the country, which includes Davao City, to extend the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine,” said Duterte over the Davao City Disaster Radio yesterday afternoon.

The mayor’s statement came out after Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque bared that President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) of Emergency Infectious Diseases to place the extend the enhanced community quarantine until May 15 in the city and other areas that are still considered high risk.

Aside from the city, other areas in the region where ECQ has been extended are Davao del Norte and Davao de Oro.

On Thursday, the mayor, chair also of the regional task force on the pandemic said health experts in the region have recommended for the implementation of the modified community quarantine.

“I would also remind all that the success in our ECQ, dili nato masulti na makita karon, will depend on your compliance (of the protocols),” she added.

As of Friday, the city had 100 positive cases, 49 of them have recovered and 18 died. (With Samantha T. Burgos)
