Maxim honors resilient women drivers on Mother’s Day

IN CELEBRATION of Mother’s Day, Maxim Rides & Food Delivery paid tribute to the extraordinary women behind the wheel by distributing grocery packages to its female drivers, acknowledging their strength, perseverance, and the crucial role they play in their families and communities.

Each grocery package contained basic necessities, including canned meat, rice, cheese, and bread — everyday staples that help lighten the daily burden for hard-working mothers. The initiative was carried out across multiple cities, including Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Davao, Roxas, and Tagbilaran.

Among those honored were two inspiring mothers whose journeys reflect courage, determination, and unwavering love.

Narcisa Calisagan, a single mother of three, has been the sole provider for her family ever since her husband left when their youngest was only three years old. From selling traditional Filipino snacks like bananaque in local malls to working as a tourist car driver, Narcisa’s path has been anything but easy. The pandemic forced her to stop driving, but in 2022, she found a new beginning with Maxim.

As a full-time Maxim driver-partner, Narcisa is not only financially stable but also deeply grateful. When her eldest daughter was diagnosed with cancer, Maxim was the main source of income to cover the bills and treatment costs. In 2025, her daughter is now a cancer survivor — a milestone Narcisa celebrates with tears of gratitude to the company she works with.

Nova Mae Desucatan Toledo is another inspiring woman behind the wheel. Widowed while three months pregnant, Nova Mae worked tirelessly to raise her daughter alone. She defied stereotypes by becoming a welder at a shipping company — a role often dominated by men — and earned respect for her strength and dedication. During the pandemic, she turned to bicycle deliveries to make ends meet.

In 2023, she discovered Maxim and successfully onboarded as a driver-partner. Now, her 16-year-old daughter is thriving, and Nova Mae enjoys the flexibility that Maxim provides. Unlike in the past, she no longer misses school events, graduations, or urgent family needs. She proudly calls herself a full-time Maxim Lady Driver.

“Being a mother is a full-time job, and these women do it with unmatched grace while also serving our customers with dedication,” said the head of Maxim Cebu, Poliran Christopher Landong. “We are honored to support them and recognize their efforts this Mother’s Day.”

Through initiatives like these, Maxim continues to promote inclusivity and empowerment, making space for women to grow, thrive, and take control of their futures.
