Man fights police,  killed in shootout

A 48-YEAR-OLD man who allegedly threatened another was killed in an armed encounter with the elements of the Sta. Ana police in Purok 1, Open Canal, Barangay 23-C, around 9:55 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17.

Captain Hazel Tuazon, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) spokesperson, identified the slain suspect as Roy Casas, a resident of Lizada Street, Barangay 26-C.

According to the DCPO’s report, Alejandro Dela Cuesta, a resident of Barangay 23-C, sought police assistance after receiving death threats and being harassed by the suspect at his house. 

Reportedly, the suspect pointed a gun at him causing fear and alarm.

When police arrived at the area, the suspect allegedly fired toward them promoting the arresting team to retaliate. He was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center by the Police Mobile 16 but was declared dead by his attending physician.

The Davao City Forensic Unit recovered a caliber .38 revolver without a serial number loaded with two live bullets and six fired cartridges from the same gun and a 9mm pistol.
