THE CRIMINAL Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Davao del Norte arrested a 47-year-old man allegedly carrying an unlicensed gun in Purok 5, Barangay San Nicolas, Panabo City, at 6:36 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 12.
Lt Col Milgrace Driz, CIDG-Davao del Norte Provincial Field Unit chief, identified him as Ismael Sarias, a resident of the said area.
Driz said Sarias was served with a search warrant for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) issued by Judge Gemma Betonio of Regional Trial Court, 11th Judicial Region, Panabo City, Davao del Norte, dated Feb. 5, 2024.
Police seized a .45 caliber pistol, two pieces of magazines, and 16 rounds of ammunition for the same gun.
The CIDG Davao del Norte chief said the apprehension was part of their Intensified Anti-Criminality Operations (CIACO).
“The CIDG-DNPFU continuously committed to implement the flagship programs of the government against loose firearms and to eradicate such all forms if not to lessen its proliferation,” she added.
