LTO 11 asks temporary license holders to get e-drivers license

THE LAND Transportation Office (LTO) XI urged temporary or non-plastic driver’s license holders to log in on the Land Transportation Management System (LTMS) portal and secure an electronic driver’s license copy.

Speaking at the AFP-PNP press briefing held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel on Wednesday, hearing officer Michael Ervin Yarra said the LTMS is a web-based system catering to the various transactions of motorists including overseas Filipinos.

“The temporary license is still valid and LTO is not apprehending anyone that are license holders that are non-plastic holders,” Yarra said.

Drivers may avail of the electronic driver’s license as long as they can log in to the LTO portal so that they can present their electronic driver’s license to the apprehending officers, checkpoints, or any personnel.

He added the portal is crucial for everyday LTO transactions, which is why motorists are advised to access the website before going to the LTO office just like renewing their driver’s license.

For those who want to register, applicants or temporary driver’s license holders can access the official LTMS Portal website then click on the ‘Register Now’ button and press ‘Enroll as an Individual’.

Even those without a driver’s license may sign up, he added.

The verification link will be sent to the registrant’s email address.

Moreover, the LTO urged non-plastic card driver’s license holders to take advantage of this since the agency has yet to issue plastic cards to applicants.

In the meantime, the LTO XI will prioritize overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in the issuance of plastic driver’s licenses because it is one of the requirements for traveling abroad. He said the agency only received 1,500 plastic licenses.
