Lone COVID-19 patient in Mati now clear of virus

Mati is again free from COVID-19 infection after PH2120 tested negative in the confirmatory test by the Department of Health on Monday.

Dr. Ben Hur Catbagan, Mati Incident Management Team commander, said eight patients under investigation (PUIs) were also cleared by the swab tests.

PH2120 has been under strict home quarantine for almost three weeks now even before the result of her initial swab test came out positive last March 31.

Last week, PH1514 and PH1516 also tested negative on their repeat swab tests, prompting their release from the Davao Regional Medical Center in Tagum City.

Mati Mayor Michelle Nakpil Rabat welcomed the good news Monday afternoon, calling it a “breather” from all that is happening in the city due to the COVID-19 outbreak. However, she warned the public against letting down their guard.

As of April 6, the city now has six PUIs and 345 patients under monitoring (PUMs).

According to the city information officer of Mati Ben Jason Tesiorna, the increase in PUMs is partly due to heightened surveillance of the contact tracing team.
