The Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry has moved to coordinate with logistics companies and airlines to encourage local businesses to continue while complying with government requirements.
In a press release dated March 24, John Carlo B. Tria, president of the chamber of commerce, said that cargo operations are resuming with the possibility of cargo flights coming to the city.
“We have contacted airlines for this purpose and are gathering requests from our members,” he said.
Previously, the business group released two COVID-19 advisories.
Advisory no. 1 dated March 17 advised members to practice safe cargo measures, engage in legitimate product and food delivery services, and other safety measures as prescribed by the government.
The COVID-19 Advisory No. 2 encouraged members to continue their business transactions through online and electronic commerce.
“The use of electronic commerce channels and social media are a good way of continuing business while maintaining the required social distance,” the advisory said.
Tria expressed his delight when many businesses such as restaurants have switched to online ordering through popular delivery applications.
He added that the business body will prepar additional advisories to include financial planning tools to help businesses operate and eventually recover after the quarantine is lifted.
The chamber also posted a list on its Facebook page of logistics providers that are still accepting and facilitating cargo within and outside the city.
