LGU focal persons trained under TESDA sa Barangay program

THE TECHNICAL Education and Skills Development Authority XI expanded its reach by workshopping local government focal persons to cascade grassroots training under the TESDA sa Barangay program.

In an interview during a dialogue with local chief executives at the Dusit Thani Hotel on April 30, TESDA XI regional director Ashray A. Banto shared they are experiencing issues with community-based training programs, particularly on inclusivity, identification, and funding.

“As much as we wanted to cater to all the barangays and all the municipalities, TESDA simply cannot do it. The reason why we are doing dito sa barangay program is to ensure a whole-of-community approach in providing programs sa mga barangays and even the municipalities,” he said.

TESDA sa Barangay program helps the community training and employment coordinators (CTECs) understand their roles and responsibilities as they play an important role in defining, providing, and identifying the skills training required in their respective areas.

TESDA also gathers insights from CTECs and LGUs to adapt and improve existing skills training practices and accredit assessment centers.

“TESDA can fully support the training center and the assessment center because it is important that while we give training, we can also give assessment and certification,” he said.

TESDA XI currently has 14 training centers, over 300 registered private training centers, and more than 700 programs in Davao Region.
