LEWIS Hamilton grabbed his second win of the Formula 1 season after a thrilling win in the 2024 Belgian Grand Prix.

In a dramatic turn of events, fellow Mercedes driver George Russell was disqualified for an underweight car after originally winning the race. Formula 1 announced the news on their social media platforms.

Shortly after the announcement, Hamilton was promoted from second place. The Englishman was also hailed Driver of the Day.

Hamilton started the race in third place after Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc and Red Bull driver Sergio Perez. Max Verstappen, the reigning World Driver’s Champion, was penalized to start in eleventh place.

Toto Wolff, the Mercedes Team Principal, has since issued a statement acknowledging the shocking change.

With the race, Hamilton earns his 201st podium and 105th win. He last won the 2024 Silverstone Grand Prix.
