THE CITY Council passed a resolution acknowledging former President Rodrigo Duterte for being instrumental in the realization of the Davao Coastal Road Project.

Authored by Councilor Conrado C. Baloran, transportation and communications committee chair, the resolution was passed under suspended rules during the regular session on Aug. 8.

The Davao Coastal Road was one of the major projects under the “Build! Build! Build! Program” in support of the development plan for the city’s urban infrastructure.

“All the fruition of this long-dreamed vision can be all attributed to the brilliance of our former president for making this project indeed anchored in a well-thought master plan making Davao City a more livable city,” Baloran said in his resolution.

He said the project is a “dream come true” for every Davaoeños and, through this, PRRD provided a great relief to all sectors of society for their personal, business, and leisure purposes.

“It adds another milestone that heralds a very large leap toward realizing our goal to modernize our city’s public transportation system,” Baloran said.

Apart from aiding the city’s transportation system, the councilor said it adds vibrancy to the city’s tourism as it caters to Davaoeños’ need for “comfort, happiness and well-being” with the presence of walkways, bike lanes, linear parks, and public spaces.

The first phase of the nine-kilometer P10.3-billion Davao Coastal Road Project was opened to the public last July 1 enhancing the road network and solving chronic traffic demands.

It stretches the coastal lines of the junction Davao Cotabato, passing through Bago-Aplaya, Talomo, Matina Aplaya (Times Beach), Roxas Avenue Section to Sta. Ana Wharf, then R. Castillo St.
