The 19th City Council has elected new officers and standing committee heads in their first regular session Tuesday.
Hon. Edgar Ibuyan Jr. was elected as the President Pro Tempore while reelected J. Melchor Quitain Jr. retained his post as the majority floor leader. Hon. Louie John Bonguyan was the Assistant Floor Leader.
The Committee on Agriculture and Food is chaired by Ralph Abella. The Committee on Appointments and Government Reorganization is chaired by Alberto Ungab.
Association of Barangay Captains Edgar R. Ibuyan, Sr. chairs the Committee on Barangay Affairs. Councilor Bonifacio Militar chairs the Committee on City-Owned Properties, and Councilor Antoinette G. Principe-Castrodes chairs the Committee on Civil, Political And Human Rights.
Meanwhile, the Committee on Cooperative Development and People’s Participation is headed by Jonard C. Dayap. Bai Halila Sudagar, who holds her position in the council via holdover capacity will still chair the Committee on Cultural Communities and Muslim Affairs. She will continue to hold the seat as the Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives as there are still unresolved issues in the selection of the new IPMR.
The Committee on Education, Science and Technology, Arts and Culture will still have Pilar Braga as the chairperson. Louie John Bonguyan heads the Committee on Energy.
Diosdado Mahipus Jr. succeeds his father as the chairperson of the Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. The Committee on Ethics and Good Government is chaired by Antoinette G. Principe-Castrodes.
The Committee on Finance, Ways and Means, and Appropriations is chaired by Danilo Dayanghirang while Dante Apostol now heads the Committee on Franchises and Public Utilities.
The committee on Games and Amusements is chaired by Danilo Dayanghirang while Edgar Ibuyan Sr. heads the Committee on Government Enterprise and privatization. Mary Joselle Villafuerte is still the chairperson for the Committee on Health and Jesus Joseph Zozobrado chairs the committee on Committee on Housing, Rural and Urban Development (Low-end Projects).
Bonifacio Militar heads the committee on Housing and Subdivision Development (High-End Projects) while the Housing and Subdivision Development (Medium-End Projects) is chaired by Bai Cassandra Advincula with Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz as vice chairperson.
Jessica Bonguyan chairs the Committee on Information Technology and the Committee on Internal Relations, while the committee on Employment and Opportunities is chaired by Pamela Librado.
Councilor Maria Belen Acosta still chairs the Committee on Peace and Public Safety as well as the committee on Special Publications. Meanwhile, the Committee on Public Works and Highways is now headed by Edgar Ibuyan Jr.
The Committee on Rules, Privileges, Laws, and Ordinances is chaired by J. Melchor Quitain, Jr., while the the Committee on Social Services is chaired by Wilberto Al-ag. The Committee on Tourism and Beautification and is chaired by Myrna Dalodo-Ortiz.
The Comittee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry is chaired by Nilo Abellera Sr. while Conrado Baluran is still the chairman for the Committee on Transportation and Communications.
The Committee on Women, Children, and Family Relations is chaired by Richlyn Justol, while the Committee on Youth and Sports is chaired by SK Federation president Jaffar Marohomsalic. The Oversight Committee head is Diosdado Mahipus Jr.
